Readers often wondered why Mencken stayed in America, disgusted as he claimed to mdncken with its third-rate inhabitants. So, I’m gonna check him out. Many of the essays here are way, way past their freshness date, full of names of minor novelists, critics, essayists, and politicians long forgotten. Thanks for telling us about the problem.
