Mette Rasmussen is a young Danish saxophonist who is building a powerful reputation as an original new voice. In recent years she has proven equally comfortable performing solo, in duo with Chris Corsano, in the spiky punk-jazz trio Trio Riot, and in larger groups such as Mats Gustafsson’s Fire! Orchestra. For Brighton Alternative Jazz Festival she will be performing with veteran UK improv drummer Steve Noble.

Steve Noble plays drums and percussion. He studied with Nigeria master drummer Elkan Ogunde and in the early 1980s was a member of Rip Rig and Panic, touring extensively throughout Europe and England. Since then he has worked in a variety of musical contexts but has been extensively involved in improvised music through work with a wide range of musicians. Tirelessly busy, endlessly inventive and a serial collaborator, he currently plays in Peter Brotzmann’s European trio, in Decoy with Alexander Hawkins and John Edwards and in countless other configurations.
